On my way to yoga this evening, I was definitely wondering who's idea it was for me to return to Crow Agency this summer? Some of you will recall, that on my trip last summer, I faced many challenges: both programmatic(did they really want us there?) and team based(having to send a team member home may be the hardest thing a team leader has to do). Initially, I was reluctant to return. Over the fall and early winter, my thoughts softened, I was able to remember the positive outcomes of the trip, the relationships developed, and the need to wage peace and justice, one person at a time. Thus I agreed to lead another team. As the time has grown closer, and communication with the tribal members and othes in Crow Agency has been sparce and distant, I once again questioned my decision.
Then three things happened today: Les Left Hand, the Head Start director, surprised me with a welcoming and enthusiastic phone call, Andrew put the final touches on our rental transportation, and I went to yoga. How apt that the theme for the class was "heart opening" and stress relief for the neck and shoulders! Leaving the class, I knew I was headed in the right direction.
More from Crow Agency tomorrow,
Love to all of you
Barbara
